Considering Your Future?

26 August 2020

Guest post from our long-standing client, Thor Holt, who assists clients with career, interview and pitch winning coaching.

If your role has been made redundant or your contract ended prematurely, it's all too easy to beat yourself up mentally, especially if you're experiencing financial challenges.

This is completely understandable, and I've been there, in that worry loop.

'Worry - scatter gun action - more worrying - random action - more worrying...'

I'm not saying it's easy, but it's important to untie that worry loop because it's not leading to a better financial situation (speak to your accountant about that!) nor is all the worry helping you land a new contract, client or job.

Untie the worry knot by:

- asking for assistance

- planning a positive process together

- following the process

All the best,

P.S. I wrote this message to you while on a summer break in my home island of Papa Stour (Shetland). I post useful ideas most days, but this video from a cave went down particularly well with my current connections, so I'll share it with you.

Mark Hobbs, VP, North Sea Region Operations, APACHE. (Now MD Offshore Oil & Gas @ PX Group) “My CV gold mining session with Thor was useful and thought provoking. Thor’s approach challenges you as an individual and gets you to move on from the easy relaxed chat; this is a full hands-on working session! He deconstructs your experiences in a way that delivers valuable insight and renewed interest. His practical suggestions enable you to gain confidence about retelling your experiences, and he guides you to be able to explain your career choices, drivers and achievements with impact and meaning. Also, his technique helps prepare you to have more control during interviews and better influence the outcome. Thor is a charismatic, to the point individual that speaks his mind and enjoys being interested in people. CV gold mining is worthwhile and rewarding; a great first step to finding that new role. Thanks Thor!
